Spinal Cord Injury Network Nepal (SCINN) is an autonomous social organization established with the aim of promoting self-reliance, independence, and an inclusive lifestyle for individuals with spinal cord injuries. Founded on August 25, 2015 (Bhadra 8, 2072 B.S.) by seven individuals with spinal cord injuries, the organization is registered with the District Administration Office Kathmandu, the Social Welfare Council, and Gokarneshwar Municipality. It is also affiliated with the National Federation of the Disabled Nepal (NFDN).
SCINN actively advocates for the rights of individuals with spinal cord injuries by lobbying for the implementation of disability national laws, UNCRPD and inclusive government policies. Through public awareness campaigns, it works to shift societal attitudes and promote dignity, accessibility and equal opportunities.
SCINN operates an Independent Living Practice Home that enables children and young students with spinal cord injuries to continue their education in an accessible and supportive environment. It also advocates for inclusive education policies and curriculum reforms that recognize the needs and rights of disabled students.
SCINN promotes and helps access to quality healthcare, rehabilitation services and assistive devices for individuals with spinal cord injuries. By collaborating with healthcare providers and stakeholders, it ensures long-term support for independent and healthy living.
SCINN organizes inclusive sports and entertainment programs like wheelchair basketball and para sports to boost physical health, confidence and community engagement among persons with disabilities. These events also serve to raise public awareness and showcase the abilities of individuals with spinal cord injuries.
Spinal Cord Injury Network Nepal (SCINN) is dedicated to empowering individuals with spinal cord injuries by promoting self-reliance, independence, and an inclusive lifestyle. Through advocacy, education, and support services, we strive to enhance accessibility, foster social inclusion, and improve the overall quality of life for people with spinal cord injuries in Nepal.
Since 2015, Spinal Cord Injury Network Nepal (SCINN) has made a powerful impact by supporting thousands of individuals with spinal cord injuries (SCI) through education, Independent Living Practice Home, accessible housing, sports and entertainment, peer support and counselling, healthcare, vocational training, job empowerment and advocacy. We believe that with the right support and opportunities, individuals with SCI can live independently, reclaim their dignity and fully contribute to their communities.
